Non-compliance to medications and non-adherence to stroke prevention treatment is present in large number of patients. There is an emphasis on using novel, culturally adapted and context-specific strategies for secondary stroke prevention. In ‘Secondary Prevention By Structured Semi-Interactive Stroke Prevention Package in India (SPRINT INDIA)’ trial, intervention is provided in the form of Short Messaging Services (SMS), video messages and an educational workbook delivered over a period of one year. The SPRINT India intervention had diverse and complex interplaying components.
The SPRINT India process evaluation was performed to understand the effectiveness of the intervention elements using MRC Framework as a guideline with Realist and REAIM evaluation models. Using purposive sampling strategy, interviews at 11 centres of patients, caregivers and health professionals was conducted along with 2 focus groups of the trial administrators. The quantitative and qualitative data is proposed to be analysed with triangulation methodology.
