Abstract

The construction industry is the primary source of revenue for all countries. The construction project is becoming increasingly complicated and challenging to manage. This is due to the fact that the construction project comprises numerous stakeholders, such as consulting firms, architects, engineers, building surveyors, and quantity surveyors, to name a few. AutoCAD(Automatic computer-aided design) is the current technology in use in the construction sector. AutoCAD is a commercial software tool developed by Autodesk for 2D and 3D computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting. Generally, all AutoCAD drawing designs would be exchanged in the form of paper among the stakeholders. The majority of the information they transmit is in the form of documents and drawings. This technique leads to errors because most documents and drawings are in a paper-based format that isn't well-managed, resulting in miscommunication. Because information is one of the most crucial construction components in a construction project, having incorrect information during the construction process could hinder project production. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a modern software tool used in the architectural, engineering, and construction (AEC) industries to ensure that all parties have access to the right data. The software will create a model with all of the information needed to support the building's construction, fabrication, and procurement processes. The possibilities and benefits of BIM during the pre-construction, construction and post-construction stages will be discussed in this article. The main difference between CAD and Building Information Modeling (BIM) is that the older CAD system produces a 2D drawing with plotted system and the building plan is created separately.
