Abstract

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a global health problem. The aim of this research was to evaluate specific biomarkers in COPD patients to see how COPD affects quality of life and biomarker levels. The study included 116 COPD patients who were treated at a tertiary care centre in Eastern part of India. The magnitude of their COPD was determined using the GOLD standard. The SGRQ-C and appropriate biochemical methods were used to determine quality of life and biomarker levels, respectively. There was a decrease in serum nitrate (33.67 4.41 mol/L) and a rise in serum MDA (6.38 2.32 nmol/L), suggesting increased nitrosative and oxidative stress, respectively. Overall, researchers discovered that the severity of COPD deteriorated quality of life proportionately. In COPD patients, there is an increase in nitrosative stress, as measured by a drop in NOS (serum nitrate), and an increase in oxidative stress, as measured by a high level of MDA in the blood. The intensity of COPD and serum NOS and MDA levels have a significant correlation..
