Abstract

Adenoid cystic carcinoma is an uncommon malignant neoplasm of minor or major salivary glands. It constitutes of 1% of all head and neck neoplasm and 10% of salivary gland neoplasm. Distant metastasis and perineural invasion are the characteristic feature of this tumor. Since it is a salivary gland tumor, it usually presents itself intraorally. It may sometimes arise from the respiratory lining rather than the epithelial lining of salivary glands. Such cases can pose to be diagnostically challenging. We herein present a case of adenoid cystic carcinoma with mystifying symptoms creating a diagnostic dilemma, its management and brief review of literature.
