Abstract

Background: The stroke patients comprise a large number of hospital admissions and stroke is one of leading cause of significant mortality and morbidity in Bangladesh.

Methods: One hundred patients of stroke both Ischaemic and Haemorrhagic presented with diverse clinical features subsequently proved by CT-scan of brain were taken into account by supporting inclusion and exclusion criteria.

Study Design: Hospital based observational study.

Study Setting and Period: Medicine units of Dhaka medical college hospital from July ’10 to Dec’10.

Source of Materials/Participants: 100 stroke patients admitted at different medicine units of DMCH.

Results: In 76% of ischaemic stroke (clinically) 4% were haemorrhagic and 2% were normal on CTscan and in 24% cases of haemorrhagic stroke (clinically) 2% were ischaemic on CTscan. So, clinical and neuroimaging did not correlate in 8% cases.
